Miami’s Exiled Communities Stand United, Praying for Freedom from Communist Oppression

By Economics Desk | January 19, 2026

In Miami, exiled Venezuelan and Cuban communities gather in faith-driven protest against oppressive regimes, underscoring America’s role as a beacon of liberty for the oppressed.

In the heart of Miami-Dade County, a powerful scene unfolded as hundreds of Venezuelan and Cuban exiles gathered at Presencia Viva Church in Doral to pray fervently for the liberation of their homelands. This moment was not just a religious gathering but a vivid reminder of the ongoing struggle for freedom against tyrannical regimes that threaten the very principles America was founded upon.

Faith and Freedom: The Cornerstones of Resistance

The event, organized by the Asamblea de la Resistencia Cubana (ARC), combined solemn mass with introspective reflection under the stirring banner “Prayer for a Free Venezuela and a Free Cuba.” Orlando Gutiérrez, ARC’s secretary general, emphasized that this gathering transcended spirituality—it was an act of solidarity with those still risking everything inside Cuba and Venezuela to reclaim sovereignty.

“We feel in our hearts the inevitable dawn of freedom approaching,” Gutiérrez declared. But he also warned that spiritual empowerment remains critical. It is this unity rooted in faith—anchored in Christ—that will help rebuild these nations free from communist shackles.

Why Does This Matter to America?

While these struggles may seem distant, they strike at America’s core values: liberty, self-determination, and national sovereignty. The 2024 U.S. operation capturing Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro on narcotrafficking charges signals Washington’s willingness to confront foreign threats that destabilize hemispheric security. However, much more vigilance is required to ensure that Washington supports genuine change rather than enabling new authoritarian schemes masked as diplomacy.

The commitment shown by Miami’s exile communities reflects what countless Americans cherish—a homeland where freedom isn’t just a notion but an unyielding promise. Eida Diego, one of the participating pastors, voiced what many felt: “I prayed for my native land with hope for a new dawn where we can openly express ourselves and choose our leaders without fear.” Such aspirations must inspire American policymakers to continue championing democracy abroad while securing our borders at home.

This gathering serves as both a beacon and warning: while communism tightens its grip just south of our border, true patriots rally here on U.S. soil demanding justice and freedom through faith and collective action.
