Recent data from the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) at Syracuse University paints a revealing picture of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts. Up until June 15, 56,397 immigrants were detained by ICE under President Trump’s deportation campaign. However, only 28.3% of those detainees had any criminal record, including minor traffic violations and petty offenses. This stark statistic challenges the administration’s persistent claim that its immigration crackdown is primarily focused on removing dangerous criminals from American communities.
