Drone Attack Near Ukrainian Nuclear Plant Highlights Grave Security Failures

A drone detonated less than a kilometer from a Ukrainian nuclear plant, underscoring the perilous risks of ongoing conflict for global security and America’s strategic interests.

In a stark reminder of the dangers posed by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, a drone was recently downed and exploded just 800 meters from the perimeter of the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant. Located some 350 kilometers south of Kiev, this facility is one of only three operational nuclear plants in the country—each now vulnerable to the reckless escalation around them.
