Five people lost their lives in powerful earthquakes in Guatemala, highlighting the challenges of natural disasters in a geopolitically unstable region often overlooked by U.S. policy.
 
                    On Tuesday, Guatemala was shaken by two powerful earthquakes measuring 5.2 and 5.7 on the Richter scale, centered in the southern department of Escuintla. The resulting destruction has claimed five lives, including one person who tragically died from an infarction amid the chaos.The National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction reported that four of the fatalities occurred in Sacatepéquez province, approximately 50 kilometers west of Guatemala City.
