American Playwright Jeremy O. Harris Faces Serious Drug Smuggling Charges in Japan

American playwright and actor Jeremy O. Harris, widely recognized for his provocative Tony-nominated work "Slave Play," now finds himself embroiled in a serious legal challenge abroad after being arrested in Japan’s Okinawa prefecture on suspicion of smuggling the psychedelic drug MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy. On November 16, Japanese customs officials detained Harris at Naha Airport after discovering 0.78 grams of crystalized MDMA concealed within a container inside his tote bag.
