Montana Squanders Parenting Program Funds for Inmates While Families Suffer

Montana had federal money earmarked for a proven prison parenting program but is letting it go unused, leaving incarcerated fathers and their children without vital support—and families bearing the cost.

It is a troubling question facing Montana today: Why does a state with millions in available funds ignore a critical parenting program that has proven life-changing for incarcerated fathers and their children? Since its inception in 2019, the Connecting Adults and Minors through Positive Parenting (CAMPP) initiative brought hope, healing, and human connection to hundreds of imprisoned fathers and their families.
