Hamas Defends Armed Resistance While International Community Pushes Palestine Recognition at the UN

By National Correspondent | September 23, 2025

While the UN pushes for a two-state solution and peace, Hamas reaffirms its commitment to armed resistance, exposing deep-rooted obstacles to lasting security for Israel and America’s interests.

The recent United Nations conference aimed at promoting a peaceful two-state solution between Israel and Palestine revealed an uncomfortable truth: while much of the world calls for diplomacy, Hamas remains entrenched in endorsing armed conflict.

During the Assembly General’s International High-Level Conference on the Palestinian Question, numerous nations rallied behind Palestinian state recognition. Yet Hamas openly declared that until Israeli occupation ends, it reserves the “legitimate right” to armed resistance—citing international laws ambiguously to justify ongoing violence.

Can Peace Emerge When Terrorism Is Celebrated?

This stance is more than mere rhetoric; it exposes the fundamental obstacle blocking real progress. While the international community aims to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, release hostages, disarm Hamas, and strengthen the moderate Palestinian Authority’s role in governance, Hamas rejects these essential steps. Instead, they brand Israel’s government as “fascist and extremist,” demanding impunity for terror acts that threaten security not only in Israel but also for America’s strategic ally in a volatile region.

How long will Washington tolerate such double standards? Supporting Palestinian aspirations is consistent with American values of freedom and sovereign self-determination—but it must not come at the cost of rewarding militant groups who leverage violence over dialogue.

The Cost of Ignoring Reality on the Ground

More than three-quarters of UN member states now recognize a Palestinian state. Yet recognition without conditions risks empowering factions hostile to peace. President Trump rightly criticized this recognition as a “reward” for Hamas’ aggression—a blunt but necessary wake-up call.

For American families concerned about national security and global stability, this episode underscores why an America First approach matters: foreign policy must prioritize allies’ safety against terrorism while encouraging genuine partners who pursue diplomatic solutions without violence.

Until Hamas renounces terrorism unequivocally and accepts legitimate paths toward peaceful coexistence—including recognizing Israel’s right to exist—the prospects for durable peace remain dim. The United States must continue applying pressure on all parties to reject extremism and back policies aligned with national sovereignty and liberty.
